Joanne Yesol Choi is a storyteller at heart, weaving together the worlds of writing and music to create rich, immersive experiences. As both an acclaimed cellist and emerging author, Joanne blends the lyrical beauty of words with the evocative power of music. Joanne’s writing style is poetic and vivid, painting a dreamlike canvas that transports readers into her imaginative worlds. Her stories are filled with subtle emotional depth, often drawing on nature as a symbol for the human experience.

Joanne’s creative endeavors also extend to collaborations, such as her recent work with Dave Eggar on a Spotify track, where she penned the poetic lyrics for The Swan, merging her writing with instrumental music. This collaboration highlights her unique talent for crafting narratives that seamlessly intertwine with sound.

In January 2024, Joanne was commissioned by Autism in Mind charity to create a children’s book with her mother as the illustrator. Her first published book, Blob the Colorful Star, is a beautiful story that teaches children important lessons about self-acceptance, celebrating differences, and finding confidence in who they are. It will be available for purchase and in libraries in the GTA in Fall 2024.

With a passion for creativity and storytelling, Joanne continues to explore new ways to captivate her audience, both in the literary and musical worlds.

Her current project, SEASONS: A Human Experience, is a testament to her ability to craft narratives that explore the intimate connection between nature and emotion. Each story, paired with carefully selected musical pieces, offers readers a multi-sensory journey, evoking the essence of each season through themes of loss, wonder, redemption, and beauty.
